LimeCrime Tutorial By Brooke

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I loved Brooke’s latest makeup look so I emailed her about it – She was awesome and made us a tutorial!

brooke

What Brooke used:

Eyeshadows: Mirror Mirror & Empress & Nymph, black eyeshadow by Rimmel
Eyes: Black eyeliner by Bourjoirs

1. With a medium brush I applied Mirror Mirror (silver) to the whole eye lid extending slightly above the crease in the outer corner (to create the solid looking line on the outer corner I used household sticky tape. I angled the tape from the corner of my eye reaching up to the edge of my eye brow. This creates the solid line & a more dramatic look – especially good with black eye shadow as you don’t want to end up looking like you have a black eye).

2. Using a smaller brush I applied the black eye shadow to the outer crease of my eye – working from the outer corner inwards. I built it up until I was happy with the darkness – blending with the silver in the bottom corner as I went. I also applied a small amount of the black eye shadow to the inner corner of my eye lid to even the look out a bit.

3. Using the medium brush I lightly loaded the brush with Empress (purple) and dusted over the middle section of my lid – blending into the silver and black. I just wanted that hint of purple to lighten the look up a bit.

4. To highlight my eyes I applied Nymph (gold/white) to the bottom inner eye and along the brow bone. I also added a bit of Nymph to the outer corner line (after removing the tape).

5. Apply black eyeliner to the top lashline and apply black mascara.

Limecrime tutorial – Emerald Shine!

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Our Aussie pal Brooke submitted this cool pic of her wearing limecrime glitters and we asked her to make us a tutorial! Enjoy the sparkly goodness:-)

What Brooke used:

Eyeshadows: Mirror Mirror, Nymph & Voodoo Queen Glitter
Eyes: Black liquid eyeliner, black mascara & fake eyelash glue.

1. With a medium sized brush apply a light dusting of Mirror Mirror to the whole eyelid.

2. I was having trouble getting the glitters to stick properly and fully to my eyelid – I tried the creme shadow, make up primer, EVERYTHING – and I wasn’t getting the full coverage look I wanted. I read in one of my make up books that when using glitters it is sometimes good to try the fake eyelash adhesive glue to get it to stick properly and much more solid. I tried this and SUCCESS!

3. Paint fake eyelash glue to the lid in the shape you require. For this look I painted just above the crease of my eye as I was unsure how dramatic it would look.

4. Using a brush you don’t mind wrecking (in case the glue doesn’t come out – mine did as I washed the brush properly after use) soak in water and then into the glitter pot (to ensure the glitter is picked up by the brush). Apply the glitter to the still wet glue until you have a solid base – allow to dry. Apply one eye at a time to ensure the glitter and glue don’t crack and so you can see what you are doing.

5. Once dry take a smaller brush and apply Mirror Mirror (silver) to the outer lines of the glitter and under your bottom lash line.

6. Apply Nymph (white/gold) to the inner corners of your eyes and dust under your brow.

7. Apply foundation and concealer as desired on your face. For this look I used a red gloss on my lips.

Notes: Though the eyelash glue made my eyes feel very heavy to start off with I barely noticed by the end of the night. This is by far one of my favourite looks I’ve created with Lime Crime makeup and I’m sure to repeat it with the 2 other glitter colours I have from Lime Crime.

It made me feel like Sophie Ellis Bextor in her “Murder on the Dance Floor clip”. See it here on youtube (for some reason I can’t get it to post here)

Super love & sparkles

Aqua Charge LimeCrime Tutorial

Monday, December 29th, 2008

The fabulous (and sparkly) Brooke posted this fabulous tutorial at her blog and said I could share it all with you!

How did she do it??

Lime Crime Magic Eye Dust:
-Elf
-Empress

-Circus Girl

-Nymph

-Turquoise glitter liquid liner (I used M.A.C. glitter liquid liner)
(you can now use LimeCrime Glitters like Jinx, and voodoo queen!),
-black mascara

  1. With a medium brush I applied Circus Girl (yellow) to the inner eye – starting at the inner corner to about the centre of the eyelid.
  2. With a slightly smaller brush I applied Elf (green) to the outer half of the eye – starting from the outer corner to the edge of the Circus Girl shade.
  3. Apply Empress (purple) to the centre line of the eyelid where the colours join - blend slightly.
  4. With a flat brush I applied Elf across the crease of my eyelid starting just above the inner corner right the way to the outer corner of my eye. You can bring the colour out as high as you desire – for a more dramatic look bring the colour higher to your brow bone.
  5. I wet a small flat brush and applied Elf to the lower lashes pulling the colour outwards. Then apply Empress directly below the Elf from the centre of the eye outwards. To highlight my eyes I applied Circus Girl to the bottom inner eye and appled Nymph (gold/white) along the brow bone.
  6. Apply glitter turquoise eyeliner to the top lashline (or use limecrime glitters) and apply black mascara.

*To make the colours more vibrant wet the brush before applying eyeshadows and use a primer*

Hey hey hey Shana & crew,

So this email has been a long time coming I know but hey at least I’ve finally sat down and written it.

I wouldn’t usually take the time to write a thank you email but with the fabulousness that is your shop I think it’s warranted.

I remember stumbling across your site last year in the midst of my journey away from home. I was living in London and was visiting my local internet cafe (which consisted of people around me looking up gay porn & internet dating sites). It was a cold miserable day when I discovered the Ghetto Blaster necklace (I think it was made by Sabrina’s Charms) and I fell in love – even the cold rain and freezing British wind didn’t seem so bad. I bought it the very next time I was paid (which meant I ate less that week – work was not as constant as I wanted it to be and I spent all my money seeing delicious British bands and drinking delicious British beer) and had it sent to my home address in Australia as a happy Christmas gift when I got home.

lookin' fab in her polaroid necklace

I remember arriving home and being excited (not only to see my family who I hadn’t seen for 6 1/2 months) – I finally got to wear my new necklace :) I had a super special parcel waiting for me and it helped me overcome the jetlag and basic after-travel sadness that comes with that – I just looked at the necklace and *grin*.

Since then I’ve been a constant visiter and buyer – If I had enough money I think I’d own more things but I’m so super duper happy with the things I have managed to buy. I know there is room for more in my collection but I won’t be greedy, I have plenty of time to build it up!

Recently I bought the Bandit love necklace and it has been worn out a lot – some of my friends though it was a cat and I got a bit mad at them – HELLO what cat has a bandit mask on??? It’s  quite clearly a racoon!!! I have always loved racoons – I think my obsession started young – my first toy was a stuffed racoon (I might send you a pic one day). I’ve loved my Raccy (yeah I was real creative on the naming of my stuffed toys when I was younger) for as long as I can remember and now I feel extra happy when I wear my necklace because it reminds me of that very special stuffed animal at home :)
