I'm so happy you made it to my blog! It's run by me, the owner of Shana Logic (shana! ;-) and I'll be sure to keep you up to date with new arrivals, contests, exclusive discount codes AND the cutest stuff on the block!
I hope you enjoy the blog and consider buying handmade and indie at Shana Logic!
I can’t remember when I first became a licensed wildlife rehabber for Friends of Wildlife but it’s been several years now! I used to rehab and release orphaned baby raccoon (my favorites!!!!) and I also rehabbed some groundhogs.
Now I specialize in red squirrels! They’re smaller and much feistier than the larger grey and fox squirrels but I really love their funny personalities!!
Right now I have two 6 week old baby red squirrels.
This is the little guy!
This scragglier one (is that even a word?) is the little girl but don’t be deceived! She looks weaker but she’s actually better at eating solid foods so you go girl!
Note: I’m a licensed rehabber. I take in orphaned and injured baby wildlife that I have been trained to rehab and then release into the wilde. These are NOT pets.
I’m SO excited about this month’s fashion fundraiser!
By shopping at Shana Logic this month, you can help end inhumane fur farming which is responsible for the poor treatment of 75 MILLION animals killed each year for their fur (including 2 million cats and dogs!). Grab some awesome handmade items today, and we will donate part of your order to APFA, a non-profit organization working towards the protection of Fur-Bearing Animals such as bears, rabbits, beavers, coyotes and even cats and dogs! To learn more about APFA, visit furbearerdefenders.com
It’s squirrel rescue season and I’m up to my ears in baby squirrels! I’ve got a batch of 5 + 6 + 2 (that hate me) outside in larger cages getting ready to be released.
But I have 3 littler ones in my basement still, and I just introduced them to leaves and branches for the first time! They were so freaked out but this little girl was so cute about it. She kept smushing herself into the leaves and hiding inside:-) Heck, she’s probably still there now!
Anyways, I’m pretty sure I annoyed her trying to snap pics for you;-)
It’s manatee month at Shana Logic so I was squeeing with delight when I got this link in my mailbox! I’m a total sucker for rehab videos – and if this is something you love, make sure to check out our August Manatee Fundraiser!
“SeaWorld animal care specialists are a little bleary-eyed this week as they provide 24-hour care for a weeks-old, baby manatee. Orphaned by her mother, the female calf arrived at the park’s rehabilitation center on July 24 after being rescued from the waters of Daytona Beach, Fla.”
I just got a new batch of baby raccoons for rehab:-) The one in the photos is about 4 weeks old and the other two I have still have their eyes closed so they are about 3 weeks and so cute!! I’ll photograph them later for you if I get the chance.
Here’s the little girl outside for the first time:
She’s like “argh, photo time? Must we?”
(in this one she’s sayin’ “I’m ready to go back in people!!” )
A few days ago I rescued 3 baby raccoons who were found in an air vent (the mother was no where to be found).
They are only about 1 week old and barely even have fur so most people probably don’t think they are cute yet (i do!) Their eyes are closed and they are just soooo tiny and fragile so I waited a while before I took any photos (i wanted to make sure they were stable:-) They get fed with a syringe and can barely hold their little heads up! (official note: These are not pets. I rehab them and then they are released into the wild;-)
All 3 are doing well and hopefully I’ll send update photos if I end up keeping them for a while:-)
ShanaLogic is now an official sponsor of the Devils Island Project: Saving the Tasmanian Devil from extinction!
We get a tree with a plaque on the actual island, plus they posted this little email I sent to the founder a while back:-) We are also listed on their Sponsors page (at the very bottom but it’s still cool! woohoo!)
Introducing our first USA sponsor – Shana Logic
Basically I run an online shop called “Shana Logic” www.shanalogic.com. I sell jewelry, apparel, accessories, home goods and more but what makes it special is that every product was either handcrafted by an artist or designed by an artist or small business!
There’s nothing mass produced and it gives the artists a venue to make a living as crafters which is very rare in this chain-store, name brand world! In the states (and maybe in australia), it’s called “Indie Shopping” ;-)
I designed the site, took most of the photos, wrote all of the descriptions, do the marketing, etc. and have a couple employees who help with customer service and shipping– We’re small! I run the whole shop from a small warehouse about 5 blocks from my home.
The most interesting part is that because I’ve been in some australian blogs, I do a LOT of business with your country! I ship international quite a bit and australia is one of the countries I ship to the most! I sell about 1000 products by over 100 artists and even have a line of belts and jewelry myself!
I’m excited to be your first USA sponsor and do a lot of volunteer wildlife rescue myself (squirrels, raccoons, woodchucks)
