Diva – A resolution in the works?
VS.
Last week was crazy! I posted a blog about a large retailer selling copies of my artists’ items and it kind of became this huge internet thing–I had no idea my voice could be carried so far!
Well, tonight I got a phone call from the CEO of DCK Ply Ltd. (they own DIVA).
He recognizes that what has happened with the copyright infringments of all of the artists was bad bad BAD! :-) He says that he’s currently trying to figure out how such a thing would occur so they it never happens again. He said very clearly that Diva did not want to be a company without integrity.
While it’s not entirely resolved I feel pretty good about our conversation. I now know that as artists and indie supporters, we DO have a voice!
I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on the progress!

So glad this is all working out, Shana! I hope they figure out what all happened and fix it soon!
hi shana!!! this is wonderful news! sounds like a step in the right direction! i hope everything turns out right in the end and the person or persons responsible for this are held accountable!
That rocks! I hope he means it!
Yay!
HA! That’ll show all those naysayers (and there were a lot) who said that our “little crusade” was all for naught!
When you believe in something, never let anyone tell you that it’s stupid or that you’ll never make a difference!
so proud of you bff shana! <3
Great news!!
Yay Shana!!
xox
Wow, I’m so impressed and very happy about this, this rocks!!!
woohoo! we did it! yaaaay shana logic!
that’s nice, ne?
BRAVA!!!!! That’s amazing. Just even the acknowledgement is amazing.
That’s pretty awesome that there was a response.
Now we wait for a resolution :)
GO TEAM SHANALOGIC!
I think it’s amazing that the CEO took it on himself to call you. Perhaps whoever the bad egg/s in the company is, it’s not him.
Now that the first step has been taken, I think the issue will definitely be able to be sorted out.
good news! if they do get it fixed to your satisfaction we will have to be sure to make noise online to that effect – a) to show the campaign worked! (Yays!) and b) to show diva redeemed themselves (which would be only fair if they do) I think the artists involved deserve a little compensation first though.
Brava. I hope this reaches a satisfactory conclusion!
Internet sure is a powerful thing :)
Hoorah!
Not trying to pop the bubble or anything, but how does a CEO not realize this about his own company?
yay shana!! <3
I hope it can be resolved peacefully! :3
Wow, i must admit that even if i was supporting the action, i was sure it would lead us nowhere. I’m seriously happy about what is going on now. I just hope he was speaking the truth when he said that. I’m almost sure he was, they probably doesn’t want some thousand and thousand girl boycooting their place and has a bad reputation. I don’t think they’ll give you money for what they did, but at least they won’t be selling it anymore. What is funny is that they can’t only say “ah, we will not sell those anymore” and remove them from their website because there is some people in the group who actually live near a Diva…
Well, the magic of facebook, i guess? Cheers girl and let see what happen next.
unfreakinbelievable
Well done ;) YAY SHANALOGIC!
Yay! I knew we could all make a difference!!!
That’s wonderful! :D This really shows what can happen when you voice out against what’s wrong. ^-^ Way to go, Shana, and everyone else too!
That’s amazing that the CEO himself called you!
I would’ve expected some snooty PR guy to call, but the CEO himself calling is actually really really cool. I’m so happy that we’ve made it far enough to get a response from the higher ups – and a good one, no less!
Whoo hoo! The fact the CEO made contact leads me to believe that Diva was not responsible for manufacturing the stolen goods, but were just buying them from a third party that was entirely dishonest with them.
And the best part? Resolving the matter without legal action would give both Diva and ShanaLogic more positive PR than either had before. Who knows–perhaps this is a blessing in disguise!
Amber: To be clear, DIVA designs ALL of their jewelry in house. There is NO third party–this was something that DIVA themselves did but they are trying to fix it now.
Wow! That’s wonderful.
My sister and I are big Shana Logic fans and when we went into Diva we were incredibly disappointed to see that they were selling rip-offs of your goods!
So glad that everything seems to have resolved, though
:)
Shana,
I got an email from their CEO:
Thank you for your email.
As the CEO of Diva, I value your feedback on how we perform as a business.
We take the issue of original design seriously and have a commitment to make sure our product meets the standards you expect from us.
Please keep the feedback coming as it helps us continue to improve our business.
really? They don’t get it from suppliers? Whoa. I’m half glad – because that makes it a lot easier to get to the source of and fix – and half sad, because that means it actually WAS someone at Diva doing the nasty and not some random jewellery-churning-and-selling-to-stores place in China.
Well if they has their own designer, i’m pretty sure there will be people who’ll be losing their jobs, haha
Bec– they definitely do their designs in house. I’m sure they get their items mass produced but they are THEIR designs.
He emailed me back too! But I think it’s the same thing everyone else got.
AWESOME!That is fantastic!i wonder who stole the ideas though,it would have had to have been one of their designers or something,
Is Diva sending everybody e-mails?cuz all my friends and i just got e-mails from them,
They were probably waiting to talk to me first before responding to anyone else.
Great to hear that they are at least acknowledging this! Good luck with it :)

Just reading about this now.. that’s horrible. Has there been any resolution or just pacification?
I LOVE Amy Secrest’s designs and I am hoping that the copyright infringers will STOP.
La Verne
Wow… I am speechless!
Thank Goodness
OMFG I just read both of your posts regarding this store… I hope they DO go ahead and do the right thing. WTF, did their “designer” really think they were going to be able to get away with this? Urgh.
It’s great news he called you. See, the designers are a section of the company. And with a company this large, you can not keep track of everyone. Some designer or two probably got lazy and stole the designs to save themselves some effort and got away with it until now.
The CEO probably contacted you, knowing how bad it looks for his company. I would say a few designers are losing their jobs and may even be charged under company rules or some sort of thing (Some companies have a part of their contract stating what must and must not be done, and the penalties for breaching the contract.)
I would suggest contacting the CEO again, and asking what steps have been/are being taken to resolve this inside the company. It shows you still are interested and are hoping for a more peaceful resolution. If word gets out that it was a designer who got lazy and it was brought to their attention by consumers, and the person in question was fired, both sides get good publicity. It shows that independant artists won’t take theft, and that the companies selling the stolen art won’t take theft lightly either.
Basically, it’s a way the big companies make themselves look good getting out of a sticky mess :P
Omg relax, i work at Diva, i’m a store manager in Victoria, upon finding out these items were copied all stores were informed to immediatly take the items down and put away/send back to Head Office, any that are still instore, shouldn’t be and if they are it’s the disorgnised store manager’s fault. No one bought half the stuff anyway, they went on sale because they were so unpopular.
I’d really love to hear more about what happened with this, we have had the same problem with our original jewellery design being sold in Topshop and someone just emailed me and reminded me they were the same company that did it to you guys! Read more here http://www.madebywhite.com/blog thanks would love any info you can give x
Lyndsay: OMG! Thanks! I’ll check it out…..
